Hey, kids. I love the sunshine, and all is well with Gidget, my little dopamine dog. She is a superstar in my Brooklyn neighborhood and makes everyone so happy. She is truly a joy.
And speaking of dopamine, I wanna shop with you.
I know many of us, including yours truly, are assessing our relationship with clothes. And with “core” culture (micro trends born. on Tik Tok like cottage-core, etc.) making true personal style hard to come by, reaching for those pieces already in your closet seems like best practice, because shopping to keep up with your social feeds just doesn’t work. Particularly if you are trying to be mindful about spending.
But I was spying on an “it girl” brand that is not necessarily my vibe but often has little treasures for all ages if you hit it right. And that brand is sustainable superstar Reformation. Ref def has big Hailey Beiber energy, but there are some surprisingly wearable finds to be had for those of us old enough to actually remember the 90s.
Here are a few of my picks:
I could write an entire piece about my love for a crocheted dress in the Summertime. It’s so very Jane Birkin and looks as chic over a bathing suit as it does out to dinner on a sultry night. This dress, with its keyhole detailing and slight belll sleeve, is the most. This is my version of sexy right now.
I also. love a metallic sandal to jazz things up with a bare tan leg and these look comfortable with a reasonable heel and. pretty silhouette. These flats rock too.
A few warm weekends ago, I saw a gal in my neighborhood in. a short white shift drss and white Birkenstock Arizonas and it looked so crisp and elegant. This linen dress is short but sun’s out, gams out. Go. You could also pair it with a flared cropped pant if it’s. too short for ya.
This little top for jeans is so good. I’d wear it with gold layered necklaces and a simple gold bangle. Gorgeous.
This bag is beaucoup bucks but has that Row feeling. Simple, slouchy, and speaks that easy, breezy, understated Summer language I love. I also adore the brown suede to go with all your boho dresses and gorgeous with white jeans and a navy teee.
A striped knit dress is a summer solid. This one is just great. Full stop.
I know I. post a lot of black-and-white things, but I love black-and-white things. This floral frock is so classic. I’d rock it with a straw purse and some super flat or kitten-heeled sandals. Meow.
This linen tube top is lovely. I would do mine with oversized boyfriend jeans and a pair of low top Converse. Throw a blazer over it with a pair of shorts and you’ve got yourself a look.
I like this kick flare jean with a crisp striped button down and some sandals for city weekends or flea market fiestas.
And if you’re feeling confident (and why shouldn’t you?), this strapless jumpsuit is super caliente and soooo chic. Bam.
Oh, and if Ref is reading, you may want to rethink the casting specs to include some older women, who are all the rage on the runways. I am quite sure you would gain some new fans.
That’s my Ref round-up. I hope you found some things that work for you. I felt inspired so wanted to share. Mind your money but live a little, too. That’s what I call shoptimism. XO
I went into Reformation in LA because I remember your referring to it and not my jam. Maybe the clothing vibe was too young and ixnay to showing my older biceps in a revealing top, regardless of my weight lifting. These things are really cute but I've aged out of some of them
