Recently I wrote a piece for AGEIST about reinvention, and how at midlife and beyond, that phrase is a bit of a trap. The idea that you must become someone entirely new after 50 always lands, to me, like an accusation that you weren’t good enough as you were.

I’m far more interested in editing than reinventing.

From clothes to the work I do to the company I keep to what makes the cut in my home, I’m looking through a different lens these days. Discernment has taken over my usual house of “yes.” And saying no doesn’t have to be negative, despite the word. It’s just an overwhelming need to be decisive and discerning. Here’s what makes the cut.
