Happy December, my friends. The holiday season is in full swing, and thought I should probably do my take on a gift guide, meh. There are too many of those suckers running rampant on every feed, and truly, you know what to do for those you love. That said, should you need a suggestion, write to me in the comments, and I’ll respond with a reco. Sound good?
Speaking of recommendations, I suggest this amazing documentary on Brian Jones, the tragically dead at 27 original member of the Rolling Stones. If you’re not familiar with him, it’s a fascinating (and sad) foray into the young era of the best damn band in the world. And if you are a super fan like me, you’ll love it even more. He was a musical genius, scary mofo, and quite the dapper dandy. I can’t think of a band or group of people who influenced my style more than the Stones. I can say my style is always inspired by men who skew a bit femme. And nobody did that better than my boys. I have always been an unapologetic fan of the Rolling Stones and for those who know me, you already know.
The band was the coolest-looking thing, and Jagger in his jumpers is winter inspo on fuego. Of note in the movie are Brian’s numerous conquests with the beautiful ladies of London, my favorite being Anita Pallenberg. ANITA.
Whether with Brian, Mick, or Keith, with whom she had three children, the style (and sexiness) is simply next-level. Though I’m far more 70s than 60s, Anita’s vibe was very good. So I’m making her moppy bob of the era my #hairgoal of 2024. I’ve got the blonde and the bangs. Now I need the bob.
And, oh ok, since we’re here, here are a few fun Stones items for your fan gal pals. I can’t resist a good gift, particularly when inspired by my favorite band.
This sweater is so good.
I love an army jacket as it’s very Keith, and this one on Etsy is well-priced and far less spendy than the MadeWorn version I bought and treasure several years back.
No Stones fan should be without this Beggars Banquet 50th anniversary edition vinyl.
Full stop.
And if you’re more baller than shot caller, these photos of the band during the Exile days are the gift of a lifetime and I should know, because I own this one thanks to my husband.
In other non-Stone related news, I have discovered a great pant from H&M. I am in love with these parachute pants that are 30 bucks and are just fabulous for wfh/walking the pooch. They are fairly lightweight, so may not great for deep winter, but truly a must-have. I also love this dress for the holiday fun vibes pictured above. It’s so chic and comfy at the same time and gives me rich hippie vibes, which, at the moment, are aligned with my inspiration of the early Stones. I would wear this to a drafty house party in an old English mansion any day.
I also splurged on the iconic Max Mara teddy coat from a friend who had an extra one, thus a very good friend to have. She gave me a generous deal, and the coat is EVERYTHING. And now that I am blonde, the red color is magic.
In the self-gifting category, this bracelet is rock and roll as f.
In the beauty realm, if I have not yet shouted out this shampoo and conditioner, I must. It makes my hair so shiny and chill (aka not frizzy). I love it so much, and the duo is on sale right now. Speaking of hair, I’m also working on a product launch as we speak that I can’t WAIT to share with you. It’s going to be SO GOOD.
And how much fun is this metallic-tipped and starry French manicure for the holidays? LOVE.
On the home front, my pal Christine posted these peppy, preppy sheets on her excellent Substack, and I am dreaming of them because green is my first, my last, my everything.
And how do we feel about these Stussy Birks? I like the cream ones, but they feel far more akin to LA winter than NY winter. Also, I can’t stop looking at this North Face. It’s so COOL and leveled up.
In other news, I have a cold and the worst sore throat of my life. So I’m going to ta for now. Cheers to the holiday season, and hoping for some good vibes and good news for the world. That’s all I really want for Christmas, don’t you? Joy to the Stones. XO
Some fun stuff and love those English boys.
